If you store your Bitcoin at an online wallet like Coinbase or a trading exchange, THEY ARE NOT SAFE! Plain and simple! You need to create an OFFLINE wallet immediately!
Offline wallets are also known as “Cold Storage” and it’s the only way to ensure that your Bitcoins stay safe and secure!
If this is the first time you’ve ever heard of a cold storage wallet or a bitcoin private key, I would strongly suggest doing more research into Bitcoin before you invest any more of your money.
The worst possible thing to have happen is someone come along and steal your Bitcoins because you didn’t properly secure them.

If making your own offline cold storage wallet seems like too much work or if you think you’d find a way to mess it up, I would suggest buying a Trezor Hardware Wallet. These things are more secure than an online wallet and are SUPER easy to use! 1. I'm new to this space. I'm not likely going to own large amounts. I have some coins in my acct with one of the online places. Is that not insured somehow since it's now regulated ?

    2. Is the USB cold storage just as safe or safer than the paper wallet? I like the steel wallet idea rather than paper.
All that trouble makes people not want cryptocurrency. This system is still very flimsy, even after major improvements over the years. It will be nice when something better comes out.

    3. Everyone says not to store large amounts of money on an exchange, but how do people make large trades regularly without keeping a lot of money on an exchange? Or if you have a large buy or sell order placed, and you don't know how long it might take to execute, then you have no choice but to leave a large amount of money on the exchange. Am I missing something?

    4. I am on a crypto learning curve. Need help – I have a confirmed subscribed account with Coinbase in an attempt for 1st ever purchase of crypto but needed to complete the step to verify my phone #. I have no cell service where i live so need to use landline. Use a flip-Tracfone for travel only. Tried to install Authy with landline but that does not work. How can I make landline phone work securely with exchanges? Note: I did purchase and configure a Trezor to transfer coins from exchange to cold storage.

    5. After transferring bitcoin funds into the hardware device… Does it still fluctuate in price? Will you still make money, while it's in the hardware wallet?

    6. Hi this is all good but why is everybody out there referring to Bitcoin and Bitcoin and more of it? what about other currencies as Bitcoin is there. to stay but Bitcoin has a lot of sites but what about other currencies??? such as Verge, Cardano, Ripple etc..etc.. Come on Guys be guiding (us the general users out there) with currencies other that Bitcoin ….
Another question out of "the Wallet" you don't know "your" profit/lost ??? is there a way to keep your wallet on the exchange but at the same time secured????

    7. you can use Linux to do this with the electronium wallet, you can even put the OS TailsOS on a flash drive which will be like a mini hardware wallet you created yourself offline
