BP today said its profits have more than trebled thanks to surging energy prices.
But those same surging prices are set to push domestic energy bills to more than £3,600 per household this winter.
Poverty campaigners say the dramatic increase in the energy price cap – due to take effect in less than two months – means the government must urgently boost the cash support they are giving to consumers.

Alles sehr schön. Aber zuerst zusammen die Nummern 10 und 1. Eine warmthhh.Online Brünette und eine andereg Blondine. Es wäre unfair, wenn ich 4 wählen würde

We don't have a cost of living crisis we have a cost of greed crisis.
Wind and solar are godsends for the oil biz. They can virtue-signal with their ESG scores and support it but they know they're unreliable and that the backup will be fossil
Absolutely disgusting. Tories are a disgrace for allowing the energy companies significant tax breaks and asking the poorest of our society to pay for higher and higher prices. Energy companies will keep increasing the price as the government which is meant to be there to prevent predatory capitalism welcomes inequality and suffering for those they deem not worthy, not working hard enough.
We have to refuse to pay on mass, it's simply the only thing that will change anything.
The British public are being fleeced by the energy companies and when winter comes we will have to wear a fleece to stay warm
They are like the Nazi Koch brothers. Oligarchy on the horizon. Don't vote for Tories.
Please save as much as possible this summer. Do not stick your head in the sand because this winter will be upon us before you know it, and don’t rely on it being mild
TIME TO RETURN TO COAL.
This cannot be tolerated
What you expect it's an oil refining company
Oil extraction is different to the value added
Let's have a strict price cap
Say it ain't so! How can these philanthropists possibly be making any money, when they only charge me £1 a litre for fuel oil?
If they're making such astonishing profits they can afford to invest in infrastructure AND slash their selling price and still pay the shareholders handsomely. These figures are staggering, there's no excuse except greed. Onces this fuel is then sold to the energy suppliers who in England are also making staggering profits the situation for the consumer is simply untenable.
Great news. Great British company finally making a profit again.
We used to call this war profiteering.
Get used to it, PEAK OIL is here..
capitalism, so what?!? so making money is bad now?
Its the fossil fuel industry vs life on Earth

'They went and helped themselves'. Really? Why are prices going up so much if BP help themselves and isn't just passing the buck to the consumer?
At some point the general public will stop electing politicians who enable this corporate extortion.
#DontPayUK
Enough is enough.
Oh look, capitalism is eating itself again.
5:00 this analysis is spot on! 👍
Why you dumb news continue to blame the price rises on BP ? You need to wake up and blame the central banks and your own governments for causing the inflation of the money supply…and politicians keep trying to deceive you
Well done BP, we support you 100%
Er, you seem to forget the green levy on everyone's bill's to fund big business wind turbines! Either way the British public are being screwed over my this dispicable government!
The big club….
And you ain’t in it!
They can only charge what they want for as long as people pay it, don't expect the government to step in
There was no RICE crisis during the 10 year Vietnamese War. Now greedy enterprises warn BS on Wheat crisis.
What i can't understand. Are the powers that be, trying to force a revolution? It's like we're being goaded into civil unrest. I'm sharpening my pitch-fork.
It's not like they're making oil, they're just extracting it. It's utterly immoral. Politicians caused this crisis with global lockdowns and net zero policies, so they should cap prices of domestic energy resources. Don't tax, cap prices until the market returns to normal.
Didn't Corbyn talk about nationalising the trains and energy sector?
But he was undermined by Kier who lied his way into power, just like how he lied about supporting the miner strike ( when he wasn't even a qualified lawyer)!
They can't take what you don't have…
Don’t worry. Our elected democratic governments will represent our needs. Hehe just kidding, they’re on the payroll.
When they refer to the 'shareholders,' it's a really small amount of people. These people own trillions of dollars.
