G7 hits back at Putin by imposing Russian oil price cap

Finance ministers from the G7 have agreed to implement a price cap on Russian crude oil and petroleum products.

British Chancellor Nadhim Zahawi said the move will curtail Vladimir Putin’s capacity to fund his war from oil exports.

  1. UK and EU won't make it until Christmas. Major manufacturing companies are already insolvent due to energy prices. tens of thousands of jobs will go this winter, then investment in RU markets will get scared and run. Europe is entering an economic downturn worse than the Depression.

  2. There is need for cap on oil & energy prices for all companies trading

What guarantee is there thar these companies will not take advantage as a result of cap on Russian oil alone ??

  3. When demand is more Than supply…..there's not much u can do about it….the more sanctions the more blow back effect…..but this politicians don't care because it won't affect them….dead brain plotiking

  4. Next time I go shopping, I'll impose a price cap of one penny on the amount the shop is allowed to charge me for a pound of sirloin steak. That way, I'm going to get my sirloin steak cheaper and stop the shop from profiteering. It's totally not going to lead to me not getting any sirloin steak at all.

  5. DO THESE IDIOTS HAVE A BRAIN,OR JUST A DRY CAULIFLOWER IN THEIR HEADS???!!ITS SO LAUGHABLE…ITS GOING TO DRIP PPPPPPPRUSSIAN OIL PRICES,AND RUSSIA WILL GAIN EVEN MORE!!
    WHAT BRILLIANT IDIOTS.

  6. Yes, 100% agreed.
I would correct issue with Private own companies greedflation..why are those vital industries/businesses not in Government hands ??

  7. This is aimed at giving advantage to US companies under non-maket conditions. There are already sanctions for buying Russian arms. Prices of energy will sky-rocket to the disadvantage of ordinary citizens of the G7 countries but to the advantage of these political elites taking this decision as they are significant shareholders of these energy companies.
Unfortunately, it will come back to hurt our industries. What about if Russia decides insure and transport its own oil to other countries ? The US is gradually destroying the EU and none of our leaders is bold to say "no".

  8. These idiots are so delusional. This nonsense won't work. Russia is no longer part of G7 so what are they talking about? Russia has no interest to work with the EU.

  9. Yeah surely this will push global oil prices up higher, reducing the supply of oil to G7 countries, and in turn pushing inflation higher. And Russia will simply sell their oil else where to whoever is the highest bidder. It appears this price cap will achieve the opposite of what our politicians are telling us it will.
