Much of the continent of Europe is facing a difficult winter ahead.
Russia has once again shut down the crucial Nord Stream 1 gas pipeline to Germany.
It’s raised fears of shortages and possible blackouts in the coming months.
Russian authorities say the pipeline was shut to repair a leak.
But European leaders have rejected this – accusing Russia of weaponising energy in response to the Ukraine sanctions.
So, how will Europe cope with this unprecedented gas shortage?

    1. We sanctioned Russia so they hit us back, it's only logical. I don't care though if prices go up to much i will wear warm clothes indoors and go to work on my bicycle. Russia will regret this in the end, Russia's economy is already down the drain. This will flush their economy down the drain.

    2. The EU nations played stupid games with their sanctions, now they win stupid prizes. What a bunch of idiots to assume the Russia would not respond with their own econ sanctions. Now, the EU nations whine about how unfair it is for Russia to cut off their gas supplies. Just LIFT all the sanctions! I don't have a degree in economics yet even I can figure that out.

    3. Every country needs to be self sufficient when it comes to sustaining life . When you count on another country for such , leaders need to put there citizens first . People are forgetting an agreement was made with Russia 30 years ago with the West and now the West wants to play shady games. Ukrainian Nazis have been killing Russian speaking Ukrainian since 2014 …it only takes a small amount of research to find out we're being lied to about this mess our leaders have dumped on us simply because they don't keep there word and could care less about the survival of there own citizens . People will suffer dearly for there lack of knowledge.

    4. Realy good conversation and well laid out arguments by all paticipants. But all missed one point that the only alternative to sanctions would be NATO fighting Ruzzia. We may come to this point when pain is stacking up.

    5. So first a trade embargo / sanctions from the west.
Then the west weaponise money/gold/gold reserve.
And now russia is the bad guy for responding in kind with energy sanctions…jeeez what an un-understandable action… 😂😂😂😂

LOL im seriously ashamed of belonging to the west, this is literally USA ret*rdation at its finest!

    6. It used to be if you attacked Russia you froze in the Winter in Russia!! Now if you attack Russia with Sanctions you can freeze in your own EU country.

    7. This conversation is based on completely wrong premises and is ALL propaganda.

The entire topic is extracted from the larger picture: Russia is under sanctions because it invaded sovereign country, Ukraine, killing its citizens, and destroying it economy and infrastructure.

This panel should be discussing Russian aggression first and foremost. One year ago, the gas price issue was not on the table, and now it is. 4-5 years ago, Germany (in fact, entire EU) was warned that it becomes too dependent on Russian oil/gas but brushed this warning aside and did nothing to secure its future.

    8. EU initiates weaponisation of energy. Its own announcements prove that. They want to reduce Russian income from energy in order to hobble their ability to wage war. Now they’re whinging that Russia is unreliable. It was EU members who broke contracts to be supplied. It was the west who seized Russian dollar reserves, meaning that if Russia continued to accept payment in dollars they would effectively be giving gas and oil for free. Europe needs to get rid of every leader who has put their countries in this hopeless situation. If Russia wants nothing more to do with supplying Europe, that is understandable.

    9. Its always funny when Europe complains of dependence on russian gas. If you need a gas and you dont have it in your country you will be dependent one way or another. You can stop to buy from Russia but you will have to buy from someone else anyway. And thas someone else will have a leverage that was russian before. Besides that "someone else" already have Europe in his pocket.

    10. The EU countries wanted and will replace Russian gas anyways and since Russia already had reduced the amount delivered by 80% prior to this incident the impact isn't all that high compared to what we got used to. It certainly will hurt Europe… but it also does hurt Russia as it is a nation highly dependent on energy exports and foreign money.

    11. No, luv, it’s you who is naïve. The West does NOT want the war to end. Where is your evidence that it does? Boris Johnson scotched the peace talks in Istanbul. The west is trying to weaken and impoverish Russia. That is Biden’s stated goal.

    12. Trump was right all along and EU leaders laughed at trump when he said that europe is over dependent with russia energy,,remember EU leaders pushed for green energy thereby stopped coal and nuclear power..now they rely on gas but they dont have enough of it so they import from russia and other country,,look at them now..
      trump won again.🤣🤣

    13. When European countries send billions of dollars worth of weapons to Ukraine to kill Russians, they shouldn't expect to have a normal business relationship with Russia. It's just that simple.

    14. It may cost now, but if Europe really invests in rebuilding so that it becomes self-sufficient in electricity, it is something that can benefit Europe in the future. We must not succumb to Putin's pressure.

    15. What’s worse than what Russia is doing with energy doesn’t light a candle to what the United States and Western Europe is doing with the banking system which is far worse because they are stealing peoples money right out of the bank meaning they’re banking system can not be trusted and is no longer a safe place to park your money and many nations are seeing this and acting accordingly by transitioning to a new banking system
