    In this video, I discuss the latest White House report on crypto assets and their environmental impact, particularly Bitcoin’s proof of work consensus mechanism, which is used in Bitcoin mining.

    The White House wants to examine closely Bitcoin mining’s impact on greenhouse gases, but doesn’t want to talk about US military or politician private jet carbon footprints. Proof of war is much harder on the environment than proof of work.

    The report did touch on the use of renewables like landfill methane and vented/flared natural gas as alternate ways of powering Bitcoin miners.

    We are still quite far away from a potential executive order or legislation banning Bitcoin mining in the US. Even if a ban were instituted, it would most likely be ineffective, as was China’s ban.

    It’s impossible to enforce individuals running SHA-256 hashes from the comfort and privacy of their own homes.

    Also banning Bitcoin mining in the US would simply drive Bitcoin miners to other countries which may be using far fewer “renewables” like wind and solar in their power grids.

    As more and more Americans and their politicians own Bitcoin, it will become increasingly difficult and even impossible to ban Bitcoin mining or Bitcoin usage.

      Christmas lights using much more energy that Bitcoin but the government won’t tell the people this. The fiat parasites will attack Bitcoin with any fake reason as long as they can’t corrupt it, they love ETH and the other β€˜crypto’ garbage because it lends itself to being co-opted and centralized. Many POS β€˜crypto’ have already banned people from other countries, so much for β€˜decentralized.’

      They want to give bitcoin mining over to the power companies. Don't let people or companies that have access only to traditional electricity to mine. Allow energy companies that can capture flare offs which is only possible with the infrastructure the big energy companies possess.

      This benefits the bigwigs in two ways. Keep the little people down. Make it look like they are environmentally friendly while allowing their deep pocketed friends to get as much BTC as possible. Plus all the sheep will cheer about ESG bs.

      Still doesn't mean bitcoin is going away. Besides, the energy companies are starting to sponsor bitcoin conferences, and Blackrock and Fidelity wouldn't be deploying infrastructure for their clients (and themselves) to trade and custodian bitcoin just to be shut down by the gov't. Even the fascists love bitcoin, how about them apples?

      Such utter BS. Net-Zero is simply meaningless. Creating the "green energy" they speak of, uses way more "non-green" energy to create it. It has nothing to do with GHG, which is pseudoscience, just like the entire "climate change" bologna. BAN IT. Like when we banned alcohol…that didn't work out to well

      ON THE NOSE, Matthew… What shall we do about allowances in the US economic model for the escalation of endless wars? The US military contributes the most towards fossil fuel emissions, not to mention depleted uranium.

      Sometimes you act like we are entitled to "fair," in an unfair universe. When you bring up the question youd like to ask Biden, the thing is, no one who had power cares about what youre saying and theyre going to continue like the things you bring up, dont exist. They dont care. And they make the rules.

      My concern is that if mining were pushed off to other nations, they would be ones vulnerable to conditions and other depredations of aggressive first-world nations, of which the U.S. is of course in the forefront. Be it control via bribery, IMF loans with conditions that exclude the use of crypto(Argentina) and may well enrich dictators while impoverishing citizens, causing even further crackdowns with worse demands, or even sanctions, invasion or assassination, as well as all the tools of cyberwarfare, having bitcoin mining and/or nodes moved to third-world nations does not make me feel any more secure about bitcoin. Vastly the contrary. Bitcoin must stay actively mined in first-world nations, as others can be fairly easily coerced if not effectively stifled or destroyed.

      Governments are insane, the ideals they want are currently so badly timed they add to the problems of highly stressed civilian population. Can they not see escalation of ESG legislation at this time is pushing tolerance over the edge…..

      This video inspired a train of thought within me…,..
      I was raised by a psychopath mother so iv done my fair share of study on this topic. A psychopath needs to controll the environment around them like we all need air to breathe. Psychopaths thrive in job roles like politician's and lawyers as they can think under immense pressure as there thoughts are not clouded by human emotion. Is this an inbuilt mechanism in our society where people who seek controll and power over others (psychopaths) climb the ladder and people who operate on love/happiness/empathy are satisfied with the meaningful things life has to offer.
      Are we even one species at all? After all we can be distinguished into 2 groups. Those that give and those that take. Maybe even 2 forces one light one dark πŸ€”.

      Also, if BTC mining were banned in the US, wouldn't that decrease the supply and thus increase the value of BTC already in circulation?
