You can use rocketpool to run with 16 eth instead or just use different provider if you are worried about decentralization. hows bitcoin founder anonymous is good thing? lol every community need a leader. ETH does not rely just on validator nodes. There are also a bunch of full nodes, archive nodes, and light clients checking the protocol and verifying the state. These can not propose blocks and do not earn rewards. So the validators do have the ability to censor transactions but that it. However they do not control governance and would end up being slashed and lose all of there stake. This is why brian armstrong said he would rather pull out.
