Yes but more miners secure the network, and miners are constantly looking for cheaper energy. Bitcoin mining gives renewable energy a financial incentive.

I think ETH was a good idea and did a lot of groundwork but its in no way the long-term solution. Too much shady stuff with this project. Hopefully a real decentralized project will take over soon.

Eth moving to PoS is not going to make it algorithmic, it’s more centralized and more controlled by human beings vs mining.
