i've only been mining for a bit more than a month on NH with a 3080ti and 2080s and i've even got a mining rig setup in mind and was going to start building it next month. but now?…phwoar!!! right now, if i used the money spent on the electricity for those two cards per day to buy BTC, i'd have 3X as much as they could mine with NH.
it seems as though mining has moved into the purely speculative realm of crypto mining, mine the crap out of a coin or four and hope they become bullish.

I really appreciate your clear and simple breakdown on financial pitfalls! I lost so much on Crypto's, but now making around $9-$17k every week trading different on stocks and Cryptocurrencies using WTRADE INSPECTS
From what i've been reading, there is pow coin which forked called eth pow, probably that could be the next mineable coin.
When etherium went below 1000 dollars,. it was barely profitable.
Any coin replacing it, should be near that price to be profitable with present hashrate in the market unless many drop out.
Looks unlikely in the near furure.
its a sad day indeed. I only have two cards and they used to add to my monthly income by 20%. Power is expensive in RSA when its actually on (rolling blackouts for ages here). Now it would cost me to mine vs not mining. really hope things take a turn.
My other option would be to get some solar panels and mine off that, but for less than $1 a day it would take a long time to get any return on investment

Mining is not going away. All of us are very much invested into this except for Ethereum, who piggybacked on us all this time to get where it is now. For me I don't see I'm using Ethereum since about yesterday, If I want to make a crypto transaction, I will go with good old Bitcoin. Then there's coins like Ergo RVN with a sharp future, who founders are vouching to stay on Proof of work framework to go forward

I'm still profitable since I pay 0,035$ per kW, but that can change soon (they are taking out the electricity subsidy in the next months). And I haven't reached ROI (about 25% at current prices, 50% at coins prices when I bought the cards). So the ROI now is longer than the cards life expectancy (I guess, I didn't even dare to get the number). I hope it gets better soon, with farms in more expensive places turning off and selling cards (though this already happened when ETH went down to 1.5k), and some mineble coins geting more marketshare and real use.
