I don't know if they still have coal fire stations in Europe but they might want to approach Australia to get them over the hump. We still have a ton of highly efficient coal in the ground. We all want to reduce coal consumption in the long term but this is an emergency for the people of Europe. Can't wait until all the world's energy needs are met within each country with renewables so that no-one like Russia and Saudi Arabia can hold other countries to ransom.

what needs to happen is an analysis of who is vulnerable of freezing to death this winter, and how can we get them the wood they need to burn if literally Europe is plunged into the dark ages this december. We don't want next years headlines to be a million people froze to death because they didn't know to prepare for winter like our ancestors did.

I remember a James Bond movie where James Bond traveled on a small maintenance vehicle inside an empty pipeline. I suspect the Russians used a similar vehicle to blow up this pipeline.
