Open Fight Breaks Out in Europe as EU Nations Fail to Agree on Energy Price Cap | Europe Energy Crisis. Germany is leading a small yet powerful camp that opposes a price cap mechanism. Ursula von der Leyen, Europe’s de facto President is a part of this camp. Last week, Ursula’s European Commission made it clear to the 27 EU-member states that it was not possible to create a gas price cap that would not affect long-term contracts or supply security. 1. It would be nice (perhaps not possible) if Europe could be very frugal in consuming fossil fuels. Lower demand = lower prices.
To promote that behavior , a certain percentage of energy consumption should be at low price and anything above it should charged higher tariff so the frugal consumer is rewarded. Simple methods to insulate should be sold at low price so the lowest income classes can afford it.
An example… Poor people in old houses not always have double glass (yet!!) . I no longer see it, but in the Eighties, a kind of crinkled plastic foil was sold which was attached before the window glass. After treatment with a hair dryer, it stretched itself out completely flat and transparent. The air of the room no longer circulated against the cold glass.

  2. If there is a free market then each person determines what price they will pay then anyone willing to sell for that price will those not willing won’t. Every other method is state set.

  3. Firstpost! May be you have drawn erroneous conclusions from the statements of European leaders. By their statements each country is placing its views on price cap. By doing so they are evolving a bargaining mechanism, which you have seen as a fissure line. It is like jostling for a proper position in a wrestling match. The second stage is they will come to an uniformly acceptable formula or solution. In the next stage they will work out an implementation plan.

  4. maybe it us opened its pipeline the war would never have started pure greed and when deisel is used for electric vehicle power station the green deal is hypocritical and is dirty
