I think you may be confusing the words "industry" with "racket"
Brock Pierce is of course defending cryptos and blaming bad actors. That is and was to be expected. All his own money comes from cryptos, after all.
What he does not say is that the centralized scam did happen in cryptos because it could not have happened with other currencies or other assets. Even if the regulations and the supervision of financial markets can be improved here and there, they exist. They don't with cryptos and it is precisely because the assets were cryptos and tokens that the scam was possible.
And let's be realistic : the main target of the decentralized approach is precisely to avoid central supervision. The idea that every transaction contains the audit trail necessary to track all the potential wrong uses of cryptos is ludicrous at best. There will be other scams with cryptos. Only the date and the size are still unknown.
In fact, there are probably other scams already in place and in play, that have just not been uncovered yet.

Well it was an investment… regardless if it’s a scam or not they chose to invest their money and they lost it. Crypto has no real value other than what you make others think it has. If you can’t find a buyer you can sell it.
