I came up a little short on my Gold stacking goal in 2022, even though I exceeded my Silver goal. I started out with half of the goal I ultimately ended up with for both precious metals, but I doubled it when it seemed I could make it, but alas,… not for the gold part. It wasn’t a huge Gold ounce goal, but hey,… I’m on a budget, but I did get close.

There are many out there that believe you should only be purchasing full ounce Gold coins due to the higher premiums on fractional Gold, but that’s not as economically viable for all of us, including me. Surely that’s the best way to buy due to premiums being lower, but for some of us, it’s tough to save fiat cash for months for that one ounce of gold with no other precious metal purchases during that time. Others have pointed out, as well, that when selling fractional gold, they also carry a higher premium on the buy back side too, and while I haven’t done that myself, that would seem to make sense.

I’ve been trying to figure out the sweet spot for myself when buying Gold coins, both in the affordability area as well as the premium area. If I’m honest,.. also in the weight feel area as well since I seem to have an odd bias against gold that doesn’t really feel like I’m holding gold in my hand. In this video I’ll unbox some of my Silver purchases (including a Baby Yoda coin) as well as a new Gold Kangaroo coin in the weight class that I think I’ll be shooting for in 2023. Hope you enjoy my video.

    1. Great pick ups!! I am hoping to add 1/2 oz of Gold every so often this year….love the gold Britannia’s security features even on the fractional pieces so I think I am gonna go that direction. Thanks for sharing!! 🪶🤘🏼🪶

    2. Nice pile of Precious Metal's I got my first Silver American Eagle Random year it was a 2009 From SD BULLION at spot. First time buyer. I hoping to make my first Gold purchase in 2023 the 1/10 – 1 /4 looking like a good start for me. Nice to have a plan.

    3. 1/4 ounce gold is my go to weight. I just picked up an Australian Lunar Moon Tiger. It's a beautiful coin. I have a mix of 1/4 ounce Gold Eagles, Maples, and Philharmonics. I prefer 24 carat and wish that the US Mint would produce more fractional Buffaloes. I also have about 2 ounces of 1/10 ounce gold coins (Mostly Eagles and a couple of Maples) but the 1/4 ounce is the sweet spot for me. Yes, I know premiums. That is one of the reasons I did not pickup a lot of silver this year. I think premiums are coming down a bit. So, I might pickup some more Silver Eagles. With silver, I have mostly Eagles, Maples, and Philharmonics. Also with silver, I have some more collector type rounds.

    4. I try to buy a 1/4oz gold eagle every month. This year in 2022 I went all in on silver and I'm glad I did, because I bought most of my silver stack while spot price was still under $20. Next year in 2023, I'm gonna go light on the silver and try to occasionally buy an extra 1/4 or 1/10 ounce gold eagle since 2023 is gonna be crazy-volatile and that means I need something a little more stable like Gold.
