Let me show you how to sift through Rio Tinto’s income statement and statement of cash flows to understand their financials really well. We can run my discounted cash flow model together to see if the stock is a buy or a sell. We are also analyzing the financial ratios to see how they compare to their competitors. We will look at the debt of the company and equity. We will also calculate the WACC (weighted average cost of capital) so we can discount the future cash flows. Let’s also look to see if the company is paying a dividend. If they are paying a dividend let’s look at the historical dividend payments and try to figure out if they can maintain them in the future. Rio Tinto’s stock price may be hard to estimate but maybe can figure it out together. Rio Tinto is an Other Industrial Metals & Mining company that may be a great addition to your portfolio.

I built this website to help small businesses value their company:

Discounted cash flow (DCF) is a valuation method used to estimate the value of an investment based on its future cash flows. DCF analysis attempts to figure out the value of an investment today, based on projections of how much money it will generate in the future.

    1. I'm a novice investor, so I depend on brains like yours to calculate stock price and make sense of all that financial info. Much appreciated! You're a great public service to guys like me.

    2. On one side I really want this channel grow tremendously but at the same time I love being one of those small percentage of people having access to the quality inputs you have, I'm conflicted but I really wish you all the best Scott and a huge shoutout !

    3. According to the financial statements I got they paid 6,284 Mil of Dividend in 2020 giving them a ratio of roughly 65% of Free Cash Flow

    4. This was extremely helpful. Why does Wall Street predict decreased revenues for this company? Inflation should mean higher commodity/metals pricing, right?

    5. RIO is solid. I regret selling calls. Hope all this reverse repo action causes a 1987 style plunge so I can close out of them

    6. I've held Rio since 1995 when they were $18AUD. Price surged before the GFC and again now. Paying better dividends now than previously. Overall a good long term investment but expensive at present.

    7. Ive owned this for awhile but nice to see a good review of it! Good to see your channel is getting monetized. I been watching a lot of so called gurus on youtube for years now and was never that impressed until you!
