    1. I think an awful lot of people have any real idea of the meaning of the common phrases that are used today. Such as proof ! I have heard so many people say that a proof coin with damage is no longer a proof coin and just a bullion coin! I my view is that it would still be a proof that is damaged with a much smaller value maybe similar to bullion.
I also think expectations have become ever so high that the minting companies cannot supply such a quantity of perfection.
Yes bullion is bullion but it's supplied in designer blister packs then imho it's gaining a bit of collector edition status and not just bullion!

    2. I always video everything I unbox, even cheap $10 parcels, imagine precious metals.
Learned my leason many years ago from items missing on orders from ali…

    3. I think we need to bring in a new definition of Bullion Grade Coins. Bullion Uncirculated and Bullion Scruffy. Any major dings and scratches then you know what your buying and can make an informed decision at a lower cost. In the days of technology why don't dealers send a photo of your coin and packet before despatch? There is a YouTube blogger/dealer who does this and there is never an issue…you know exactly what your buying. I suppose greed always wins out!!

    4. I do agree that “just bullion” is not a good excuse. However, it’s not a proof coin either. Which means that it may have damage and I’ve even seen proof coins that aren’t 100%. “May have a mark or a scratch”.

    5. I have recently purchased a lot of 1oz silver Britannia from Royal Mint, and i understand that they won't all be perfect, but about 90% of my purchase has dents, scratches, and / or milk spots. Its so upsetting as I had placed trust in Royal Mint product.

    6. It's the same with most industries. Going by what I see in my job with a lack of staff or sometimes poor quality staff and a high amount of volume per body, there will be quality issues. But it should always be up to the royal mint to correct their mistakes.

    7. I got a silver proof with a low mintage from the RM, it was damaged on arrival but had been sold out so no chance of a replacement. Was I miffed? Yes , but they got you over a barrel at that point… Btw the mint is less than 10 miles from my house.

    8. Had that experience: "It's just bullion" when I purchased an BU Morgan Silver dollar. I paid a substantial premium for the BU rating of the coin. The coin had a large chunk out of the rim of the coin. When I complained about the quality, the rep from JM Bullion said, "Most people buy coins from us for its bullion value."

After some push back, they accepted a return.

    9. My definition of a Bullion is a slab of metal whereas a Coin is created to be recognized by a certain specific nation on a piece of Bullion. A Bullion can be turned into a Coin and when a Coin is damaged it is still a Coin unless it is defaced to the point it is unrecognizable which is why Gold and Silver Coins are valuable from like the 1600's and way way back when. So is a damage Coin a Bullion… Yes and mostly no. This is why I only buy Bullion and it's cheaper. The same thing can be said about the US Dollar, is the Cotton Paper Money or the ink/design that is put on the Cotton Paper make it Money?

    10. Thanks for the camera video tip. I will do that. I've opened a tube of new silver Brittania's and one or two have noticable scratches. I've taken the 'it's just bullion' perspective but I'd be lying to say it didn't bother me. I will be doing the camera video now going forward. Thanks again!

    11. I wonder if your status as a youtuber influenced the Royal Mints decision. Can't help thinking us mere mortals would be fobbed off with the bullion argument

    12. I think we have to cut the Royal Mint some slack. Firstly, they create some absolutely stunning products, and remain top of the tree when it comes to producing coins. Secondly, with the Queen's death, I'm sure they're only just emerging from an unprecedented period in terms how busy they've been, both in terms of new products and number of customers. That doesn't mean we should accept shoddy products, but I do think we should be careful in our criticisms. I think it's great you're going to visit (it's a cool place they have there!) and I hope you have an open and constructive conversation with them about how they can improve things, and I look forward to hearing about it.
