While we are discussing monetary history, I thought the constitution mandated gold and silver as the only legal currency, no mention of paper. When the ambitions of government exceed the economy's ability to fund, then what ? In my budget, this starts a cycle of unnecessary spending elimination, not so for my government.

Some of the content here is starting to be repetitive and sounds very familiar to Dave Ramsey and Stephen Graham. Starting to feel like just a pump for Market Briefs.
when Nixon closed the gold window that was a default, now that they can just print they take the value of the dollars and dilute it giving them value from you, essentially wealth transfer or theft whichever way you want to look at it but governments have never been adverse to thievery that's what you can do when you write the laws and have the guns to do it. That's why when 2A people advocate to get rid of the 2A I'm like are you friggin crazy?

Considering the US Dollar will be worthless in a few years. The only way to save our future is to go back ON the gold standard.
It's always amusingly sad how long and permanent a temporary government program or plan is.
Gold will always be the resource in the end.

President Nixon said "temporarily" suspend. That was 52 years ago. That is not temporary.
Correction: Gold/Silver (precious metals) don't just sit there and do nothing. They offset the loss of buying power of your fiat currency. Yes they aren't "productive" assets that create new fiat but they aren't just doing nothing.
The US economic system is dying out, it’s a debt bomb coming due. The Brice nations are designing a currency backed by gold. US dollar is Monopoly money cash backed by speculation and hype. Not much hype left in America after being 32 trillion in debt
Already stacking gold and silver. Kansas and Mo is currently trying to reclaim gold & silver as a currency. I think Idaho is going to be doing the same soon.

The reason is that they already know that the current dollar control money slave system is about to collapse. People will start running away from the dollar as fast as they can due to the purposefully created inflation and coming recession. There are multiple agendas that align and literally are fighting in the Ukraine for being the next one to impose their will. They all got their muppets talking in politics and the media to spin a story so the masses demand their ‘solutions’ willingly. It is the same old same old. When the current system is about to go under the parties who want the game to go on create a war they know they can win. But perhaps this time they made a mistake about this last part.
I've always wondered why gold has any value. You can't do much with it, you can't eat it it's just heavy soft shiny metal. Seems like man was conned at some point in time.
