    1. I was buying these same coins in 1998 for $320/oz spot more or less. I had 4 or 5 before I had to liquidate due to losing my job, took a slight loss due to spread/premium.

      Beautiful coins

    2. all glory to God Almighty, everyone who reads this, Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. He is the only way to heaven because He is the only perfect and truly Good person, He died in the place of sinners who repent and put their faith in Him. Jesus served the eternity in hell we deserve so we wouldn’t have to. Repent, put your faith in Him and be born again.

    3. Cool video! Thanks for sharing! When I started buying precious metal coins in the lat 80s one ounce costed something around 1000 DM. They were usually available at the local bank. Even when not on stock they could be ordered.
The lowest prices I experienced were around 2002 just after the introduction of the Euro with just 12 Euros per 1g Gold. It hurts quite a lot to see the old invoices and to imagine how much more I could have bought instead of the junk I bought instead…😭

    4. Your grandfather was indeed a wise man. I have a somwhat similar story. Back in the mid 1970s, I remember my parents hosting a family dinner at which several of my parents' siblings and their spouses were present. My father had been well aware of the pitfalls of the fiat-monetary system and deficit spending for years and he knew the US was headed toward a period of high, possibly even hyper-inflation. After dinner the adults were discussing current events and my father mentioned that it would be wise for all the families present to acquire some gold & silver in perparation for hard economic times that were just around the corner. Some of the women were curious, but most of the husbands laughed at my father and said he was crazy, paranoid, etc. I felt embarrassed for my him, but he was strong and had good reasons for his beliefs so their derision didn't bother him – he just continued to quietly and continuously stack PMs. FF a couple years to 1979 and inflation is raging and interest rates are up. I remember my father reaching into the back of his safe and pulling out a smalls stack of Krugerrands. It was the first time I'd ever seen bullion gold. I know my father got at least three phone calls within the following year – two from uncles who had the courage to apologize for laughing at my father and calling him names, and another call from one uncle who thanked my father profusely telling him "I listened to what you said, John, and it made sense so I took your advice and I'm very glad I did." After the inflation of the 80s subsided, my father never stopped preaching to my brothers and me that a similar but larger such event would happen again in our lifetimes. He told us to prepare and not to be dissuaded by naysaers. My father is gone now, but his boys listened and are prepared. I love you, dad! THANK YOU!!

    5. Krugerrands have a bit of copper in their composition, which actually makes them more resistant to scratches than those gold bullion coins made of pure gold. That's one reason why they're more desirable and popular than other gold bullion coins out there. They weigh more because they still have 1 troy ounce of gold + copper over and above.

    6. Thanks for taking us back in time to help see where we have come to and from. The “Ultimate Investment” as one of your Grandpas clips states it correctly stated. Gold and Silver ( platinum and other precious metals ) have stood the test of time 6-10k years and counting.

    7. Yes 365 even tho not silver one of your best vids so far great story and enjoyable video.. Amazing gold price has grown over 7X in 40 years 🙌🙌🙌👍👍👍😁

    8. Ah, yes, Krugerrands! I purchased my first Krugerrands in 1978. They are 1977 minted and cost me $228 dollars each. Today (April 5,2023) they are at $2,017 dollars each. I'd say they have held up very well against the fiat paper currency…

    9. Hi well I am 81 now and also a 4 x Grandad now and my Dad worked on ST Helen gold mine in the OFS ( Orange Free State ) he helped sink the mine in 1948.
On quite fewer occasions l accompanied my dad to watch them pour the molten gold into the brick style mold and we all tried to lift it looking back I think it was valued at £ 1000 ( the size of a house brick. )
I also did my apprenticeship as an electrician way back and earned £ 2 per month well 4 x Niger balls ( the name back then ) cos 1 penny and the bioscope cos 5 pennys.
Thanks ( well l have ??????? Plenty gold and silver reg Lee

    10. 220 in 1981 is the equivalent of about 1000 in today's money so still a very good buy at the end of the day…respect to your grandpa…👍🤙🙏👊

    11. About 30 years I had a savings plan mature that was about £2000, I remember asking my mother if she wanted to help me put the cash into gold,I was more thinking jewellery or something of the like,I didn’t really have a clue but had an inkling that gold would alway hold its value or actually increase quite appreciably,my mother used to have a little antique shop and l thought she might know a bit about gold,UNFORTUNATELY for me she said she didn’t know anything about gold and couldn’t really advise me,I then shelved my plan.I often wonder how I would have done and what I would of ended up buying ? At least I got there in the end about five years ago but I definitely missed the boat somewhat 😩

    12. So you openly admitted in this video that you agree Silver is still way undervalued but just recently announced you would not buy more because the price finally is moving in the correct direction.
With the gold-silver ratio still over 80 and gold over £1600 moving up. Inflation in double digits, I personally prefer to remove counterparty risk from savings as much as possible.

    13. That was super cool 365, almost as cool as the yellow ostrich I saw driving into work this morning. Did your grandfather hand these down to you while he was still alive, or only after he passed? It would have been wonderful to chat with him about it I’m sure. Wise man. My guess on the price was 250GBP, so pretty close.

So thanks as always for reading, and I hope you have a nice day. 😊
