One way or another the western world has to win.
International commerce requires free movement of trade, ie shipping. None of the BRICS countries can garauntee freedom of the seas like the US has for the last 75 years. If a country is no longer aligned with the west, it wouldn't need to be defended by the US and that could lead to a complete breakdown in global trade. Not one of the BRICS countries can survive on their own. China imports 9o% of its food and oil. Saudi Arabia cant eat sand or oil. So they may have a new currency among the members, but it will still be dollars if they want to trade with the west. Not a nothing burger, but not the end of the dollar. Who do you trust more, China or the US.
This will fail miserably, won't even get off the starting line! This axis of evil will never trust each other, too funny! China and Russia face massive declines of every measure. The China GDP is half what they claim and their population is about 1.3 B, also the banking system has been accepting Russias GDP numbers when in fact they are completely fictional. If the CCP opens their monetary system the money will disappear from China overnight! Do you want Yuan? Nope and neither does anyone else including the Chinese. The Chinese system is predicted to collapse sometime in the 2030s with their population halving in the 2050s. These countries all face dire futures. This is their Hail Mary toss! North America will expand its dominance in the coming decades; it's already baked in. The dollar will continue its dominance for decades to come.
I personally think that the BRICS discussion is nothing but propaganda. China and India, two of the better economies within BRICS have a trade surplus with the U.S. would they stop trading or investing in the worldโs largest, strongest, and most reliable economy? The answer is definitely no. China and India depend on American investors to grow their internal job markets and economy. Chinese and India investors make more investment in America and American dollars than in their own countryโs currency.
Chinaโs economy has started faltering, India has its own issues. Investors are thinking people, they invest in low risk and stable countries. Do you want the CCP a communist, socialist regime to make monetary policies for you or will you prefer the U.S. a capitalist democratic country to do it for you? Those are some of the questions promoters of BRICS have to answer.
Nonetheless, do I think that countries would be flexible enough to accept each otherโs currency? Yes, I think they are doing it now anyway.
Remember this is not just about printing money. It is also about global confidence, trustworthiness, and reliability of the money as a global legal tender. If those criteria are fulfilled, the other question is does the country or countries economy large and strong enough to withstand global financial shockwaves?
I hope individuals who do these vloggs take the time to do a thorough analysis of the complexities that are inherent in a decision of this magnitude.
Let me put it mildly, the dollar is king for at least the next two decades.
