From humble beginnings growing up in the Western Australian regional city of Geraldton, Nyiyaparli-Yamatji-Nyungar lawyer Emma Garlett has gone on to win the country’s most prestigious overseas post-graduate scholarship. Ms Garlett took out the John Monash Scholarship to study a Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Civil Laws at the University of Oxford. The 27-year-old is seizing the scholarship as an opportunity to upskill, so she can return to Australia better equipped to help her people. She dreams of leading the charge to help Aboriginal people play a bigger role in the mining industry by using their traditional knowledge to advise on issues such as mine-site rehabilitation, conservation, and preservation of cultural heritage and so prevent tragedies like the destruction of sacred sites like Juukan Gorge in WA’s Pilbara.

    1. Congratulations Emma. So grateful for your aspirations. As a white Australian, I can see the cost and damage done by being severed from nature. Your culture is rooted in truth. We need to learn from indigenous knowledge, now more than ever. I'm sure your dad is very proud.

    2. Im just a silly old drunken rural jack of all trades, I believe minors rights opportunist's trying to push nomadic agricultural naturalist dip sticks to far into a no man's land of death where all species of life is drained of holy water, and nothing lives. Actually, overconfidence of limited social technology defeats us all.
And genetics in all species of life always change mind and genetics to survive another gruelling competitive day of life and its entertaining challengers, the old testaments in religions mention gods not god, let us all be clear on those ancient civilisations also had ancient beliefs and technology's like 300 Spartans and 300 serpents' of language, please no more head hunters scaring Asians.

    3. And it’s only when we cut down all the trees and kill everything in the name of money we will realise we can not eat money. Why can’t our species keep It simple because we’re stupid
