A giant and frightening wall of sand enveloped Cairo, Egypt’s capital, on June 1 in one of the strongest sandstorms ever seen in the country.
The forceful wind caused the collapse of a billboard on a major motorway, which killed one and injured five.
“I got really scared and travelled in the opposite direction on Suez Road”, said Ahmed Elgindy, the filmer of this video. “There was a similar storm three, four years ago.”
The sandstorm caused severe traffic jams and disruptions. Two Red Sea ports were closed as a result.
