Cantillon wasn't a "researcher". He was actually the banker of John Law during the time of the Mississipi Bubble, when John Law created his own (worthless) paper currency, the "Livre" (John, being obviously a very convincing individual, Managed to talk the King of France into making him his Finance minister). Cantillon got filthy rich twice, First betting on the Livre when it was created (being John Law's banker, he obviously got them fresh out of the printing press) and then betting against it before its inevitable collapse. He also was very smart, relocating from France to Ireland before – in a totally unrelated turn of events – the French Revolution began. Sound familiar ?
