Does new CA law cracking down on price gouging at the gas pump mean lower prices for you?

The governor’s office—touting the new state law as a model for the nation—is saying California is stepping up oversight and accountability on the oil and gas industry. Could this mean cheaper gas prices? https://abc7ne.ws/3Nvwi3z

  1. Look, what Gavin and Democrats are not telling you is that two refineries have shut down for good citing reduced demand. This is the refining capacity of the state by year starting in 2018 and ending in 2023 per gallon. 280,500 248,300 248,300 215,000 215,000 215,000. If we have less demand, this means the laws of supply and demand are not pushing the prices down. The reduction is supply is driving the prices back up. Gavin knows this and is making moves to make himself and Democratic lawmakers look like they are doing something about it. The fines for pricing will be passed down to the consumer and the so called rebates will not take place. Nice try….

  2. Guarantee gas companies can/will fudge the numbers to look like prices have remained competitive or lower. CA itself is guilty as the petroleum companies. Just cuz CA moved from 1st to 2nd in the gas tax bracket doesn't mean they have lower overall fuel prices, CA still reigns king when it comes to fuel prices.

  3. How much of the price is due to:
Importing most oil for refining from Foreign countries?
Lack of pipelines to deliver domestic oil here
    Lack of refineries
    State Tax

I see it as just another government agency with an agenda who will ignore the actual facts of how the oil industry really operates.

  4. "Great job governor, we look forward to working with the new energy commissioner and holding the governor accountable" the oil companies say.

And that is how you know for sure this will have zero downward pressure on petrol prices but may have an upward effect however. They're happy about this.

This new piece of legislation directs oil companies to do what they've already been doing for years, it just changes who they send those reports to and makes their content public so they can't be a scapegoat anymore

  5. No but charging $6 dollars is good for global whining? πŸ”₯πŸŒ«β›…πŸŒ₯πŸŒ€β˜€οΈπŸ€ͺπŸ€‘πŸ’ΈπŸ”₯πŸ’©

  6. Way up in rural NorCal we've been paying $5 a gallon for a few years now (sometimes more), would be really neat if prices went back to somewhere around $2.50.
Can we also talk about elevated housing and food costs? How about the cost of electricity?
After Newsom refused to help us out with the Dixie Fire and decided to let us all burn instead, our electricity prices also shot up.
We were paying $125 a month in a month when we used a bunch of power. Now? Our prices are no lower than $300 a month and we don't even run our lights anymore!!
    California has huge problems.
Just as soon as we can, we'll leave, I promise.

  7. THE STATE IS ROBBING US "BORN AND RAISED AMERICANS ". TELL US WHY GAS IS HIGH AND WHO IS IN CHARGE. GAVIN IS "LINING HIS POCKETS "! PURE EXTORTIONIST! BOYCOTT THESE GAS COMPANIES. ONLY BUY LITTLE!
