    What is plasma? If you heat atoms to high enough temperatures, they lose their electrons, forming a hot cloud of charged particles called a plasma.

    What about nuclear fusion in the sun? In the core of the sun, gravity produces high pressures, compressing elements to high densities and temperatures. Perfectly extreme conditions for hydrogen to fuse into helium.

    There are three key groups of fusion approaches, Magnetic fusion (ITER, Tokamak, Stellarator) Inertial confinement fusion (National Ignition Facility, Indirect drive, direct drive, lasers) and Magneto inertial fusion (Helion).

    For fusion power to make commercial electricity for the power grid you need to achieve breakeven, and then net electricity gain to create a viable fusion power plant. That is real world electricity. The triple product is the key figure of merit for fusion.

    Some critical components of a fusion generator are electromagnets, capacitors, first wall, and the divertor.

    When does Helion expect to begin producing electricity from nuclear fusion, and how much will nuclear fusion power cost? Fusion power is projected to be one of the cheapest sources of clean zero carbon energy and electricity.

    To accomplish commercial fusion power, Helion approaches production in a way that’s reminiscent of Elon Musk’s strategy for Tesla. I've been an engineer on one of the biggest laser driven inertial confinement fusion reactors for a couple decades now and I'll be blunt, the vast majority of fusion hype videos on the internet, or anywhere really, are hot garbage not at all worth my time. This video really impressed me though, both in its accuracy and detail, and its relative thoroughness in examination of the RFC scheme for magnetically confined fusion. The sources and citations are quality 👌. Compliments do not come easily or frequently from me, but this video does deserve them. I will subscribe in hopes that the current rigorous heavy science focus isn't lost over time in favor more lazy clickbait trash as I've seen so many other channels unfortunately fall prey to.

    2. Fusion energy has been twenty years away fifty years ago, thirty years ago and five years ago. Now it's the same thing just a few month ago. Like the boy who cried wolf in reverse I'm well sick of listening to this garbage.
      Tell me when it's hooked up to the grid and cheaper than coal power generation

At my 71 years of age I have seen many ways to create electricity, remember should we are not responsible for our resources we are destroying our planet, for example, eater can be used to produce power but if we all begin using water in a year we don't have water, the same goes with any source of energy producing power and what kind of condition are we going to leave our planet for our next generation?

    5. Looks like a ton of energy to do a bunch of stuff just to make fusion barely possible. Unless a much more efficient system is set up, it'll always use much more energy than can be recaptured.

(22-JUNE-2023 = By FMSJR) INDEED, THIS HELION ENERGY COMPANY'S APPROACH ON FUSION ENERGY UTILIZATION AND DIRECT POWER CONVERSION IS UNIQUELY DIFFERENT FROM THE WELL KNOWN TWO (2) CONVENTIONAL FUSION SCHEMES SUCH MCF AND ICF SINCE IT IS USING THE SO CALLED MAGNETO INERTIAL CONFINEMENT (MIF) METHOD OF PULSED FUSION USING THE D-H3 FUELS. SO, TO OBTAIN THE FUSION OUTPUT ENERGY IS TO CAPTURE DIRECTLY THE ENERGY BY MEANS OF FARADAY'S INDUCTION LAW AND THIS ENERGY IS STORED IN THE HV CAPACITORS. AND THAT'S MY UNDERSTANDING OF HELION ENERGY'S SCHEME.

    7. These type of videos always can only talk about theories. They never can report about progress at I.T.E.R. … the reality of fusion developements. The public gets lots of promises, but so far NO practical useful results! Its all just waste of mountains of tax payers money!

    8. I speculate that the technology has been ready. But it's how to coexist among the existing entities causing the hold up, since they have the larger share of the market (fossil fuel, hydro electric, nuclear, solar). Then transitioning people over and what they plan to charge. 🧐

    9. I'm an expert in free energy generator. My reactor adsorb the energy from the sun and multiply 3 times and transfer through cables to the world

    10. I really only see one major problem here… and that is that it doesn't matter how energy efficient fusion is compared to fossil fuels when oil companies and the like will pay people to keep using them instead of using green energy. Money > Actual progress in most companies eyes sadly.

    11. Anyone that knows anything. Fusion advancements is what's currently driving War, due to the exchange in energy as a economic threat. But its the future and a new electrical grid is required to harness Fusion.

    12. I hope they figure out a way to use the non-recyclable, non-biodegradable garbage in our landfills to create energy.
      Fusion might even make serious space travel possible.

    13. I applaud the efforts to simplify this here, although I missed hearing the narration note that deuterium is actually an isotope (with doubled nuclei) aka “heavy hydrogen”. Many labels are flawed but at least that’s familiar to us in the last century.

    14. I think m one step near to what Harvard Stark discovered and Tony made…. The almost infinite amount of energy source…. And m beginning to think we will make it possible sooner or later…. My brain's running wild now about reopening arc reactor project which I put on hold six months ago…..
