“On the internet, nobody knows you’re a dog,” with these words, Zenobia Godschalk, Founder, Zag Communications talks about internet privacy or lack thereof. She astutely asks the question “how did we the people become we the product,” as our private information and data is bought and sold online. Assume you are comprised. In her talk, she outlines how blockchain can help us achieve the internet we deserve instead of the internet that we have today. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx

    1. I feel like the internet kind of evolved more quickly than people were able to keep up with, and that created the opportunity for individuals who had a better grasp of it to benefit greatly. This kind of seems like the backlash to that and it'd be really awesome if it properly came to fruition.

    2. I really appreciate the way this lady breaks down complicated ideas. Normally I'm really confused by stuff like this but I found her explanations easy to follow and actually helpful!

    3. This stuff is so complex and filled with all this technical jargon… I'm glad there are people like Zenobia who actually want to help people understand!

    4. Until she broke it down with the doggy analogy, I never really thought about all the information that's extracted through your devices and usage. Now that I am it does seem a bit full on.

    5. I legit got chills over "when did we the people become we the product?" I've never thought about it like that but it is 100% what's happening. So many corporations profiting from our time and energy without us even realising.

    6. I'm surprised by how quickly blockchain has spread in popularity! I hope it can stay as good intentioned as what Zenobia is making it out to be.

    7. First time I've been able to pay attention while listening to someone explain this tech. Thank you Zenobia for breaking this down in a way where I can actually follow along.

    8. I get that we all want to go about our lives without feeling like we are being used for information, and really if it wasn't being used as consumer data, I would be alright with. I definitely see the importance collecting data in order to better serve the wider community.
