“On the internet, nobody knows you’re a dog,” with these words, Zenobia Godschalk, Founder, Zag Communications talks about internet privacy or lack thereof. She astutely asks the question “how did we the people become we the product,” as our private information and data is bought and sold online. Assume you are comprised. In her talk, she outlines how blockchain can help us achieve the internet we deserve instead of the internet that we have today. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx

I was just starting to understand encryption but this was beyond helpful
man a lot to get here.
Well done Zenobia, now I understand!
This sounds like a really wonderful concept, sort of like socialism on the internet.
This is a really informative talk Zenobia, thank you for sharing your knowledge!
This is very easy to understand, thank you.
Takes a woman to explain it while not confusing everyone, well done!
'How did we the people become we the product?' Such a profound question.
I feel like the internet kind of evolved more quickly than people were able to keep up with, and that created the opportunity for individuals who had a better grasp of it to benefit greatly. This kind of seems like the backlash to that and it'd be really awesome if it properly came to fruition.
Saving this because so much of it is going above my head but I know I need to educate myself more on this.
I really appreciate the way this lady breaks down complicated ideas. Normally I'm really confused by stuff like this but I found her explanations easy to follow and actually helpful!
She is very cool, she can teach me anytime!
Takes a women to make it simple.
So smart, and she is so elegant. I love that dress too.
The internet has definitely changed a lot over the last thirty years, it's weird to think that there was once so much anonymity!
This stuff is so complex and filled with all this technical jargon… I'm glad there are people like Zenobia who actually want to help people understand!
Great way to explain blockchain, thanks
Okay I think I need to watch this several times because I'm still pretty mystified.
Until she broke it down with the doggy analogy, I never really thought about all the information that's extracted through your devices and usage. Now that I am it does seem a bit full on.
I am all for anything that seeks to put power back in the hands of actual people and the community.
Ahh it really bugs me out just how monitored we really are… especially when I think about how the purpose of it all is just to make money.
I'm glad there are people working towards restoring a bit of privacy on the internet, even if I don't fully understand it.
I knew that I was being monitored, but I didn’t really want to know…
That explains it all, thank you!
I legit got chills over "when did we the people become we the product?" I've never thought about it like that but it is 100% what's happening. So many corporations profiting from our time and energy without us even realising.
I never thought I had options for being in control of my data in the current world we live in. I have some hope.
I've had a lot of really interesting conversations about blockchain lately and I'm very glad I'd seen this talk.
Following up on all of those websites and organisations she talks about
I would love for her to do a talk on demystifying NFT's.
If you haven’t, watch Bo Burnham’s song ‘Welcome to the internet’. It really says it all about where we have ended up
Hahahaha!! 3:40 made me laugh. Then it made me cry
SMART!!!! I understand now.
I'm surprised by how quickly blockchain has spread in popularity! I hope it can stay as good intentioned as what Zenobia is making it out to be.
Honestly, did not know that bitcoin and blockchain fall in the same space
A friend shared this with me recently and I am so appreciative of them for doing so. I understand so much more now.
First time I've been able to pay attention while listening to someone explain this tech. Thank you Zenobia for breaking this down in a way where I can actually follow along.
I wonder how long it'll be before we start teaching this in school's….
I get that we all want to go about our lives without feeling like we are being used for information, and really if it wasn't being used as consumer data, I would be alright with. I definitely see the importance collecting data in order to better serve the wider community.
cool info
Very inspiring and informative presentation!
