First thing I did when eth was stolen from me was contacting MM. They did NOTHING but gave useless auto-replies.
Use hard ware wallets don't trust anyone don't move your coins without any reason only if u have to sell .

However if Craig Wright wins in his controversial lawsuit against 12 Bitcoin Core developers in the UK courts next year we could see a legal framework where devs are ordered to retrieve stolen crypto when a court order is obtained,
Bitcoin Legal Defense Fund has info on the case and would have us all believe it isn't a good idea and isn't possible, I would argue that people who have had crypto stolen and could see a way to get their crypto back would disagree with the Bitcoin Legal Defense Funds stance on this issue.
Lets see if Craig Wright is successful and perhaps we might all benefit as a result… But that's just my view on it

I got hacked and lost 20k. Just took it on the chin. Didnโt bother calling the law or reporting it on Twitter like people do.
I'd use a cold wallet but because I trade daily on the go, it's really not practical to my laptop to plug it in Everytime I want to execute a trade.

I work for one of those Crypto investigations companies. It hurt my feelings. However you are not wrong It is difficult to recovery anything went you are depending on the scammers to make a mistake. Often I believe that is not over promises but rather the victims are desperately hoping for a recovery. We tell them the odds of recovery are slim, but when the cards are down it is a completely different situation.

Most of the operations of fraud and hackers that try to scam on crypto target ones right after a huge run up in crypto as that tends to be when people's guard is down. So always have your wits about you and a sober mind when it comes to those situations.

I think some people scam themselves by accident. Like me. I recovered $5,800 using Ian Colemanโs BIP 32 online calculator. It was heavy, but surprisingly simple after the fact. If you use the wrong networks, thereโs hope. Half of the battle for me was realizing that I indeed did use the wrong network! I was ready to let go the $5,800!!

Jaxx wallet lost my funds in a hack of my computer and refused to trace the funds or stop the thief from transfering further . Police took a month to respond and then told me my money was not going to be retrieved. I could not find a fund recovery company at all.
I got 'hacked' in 2021. The thief called my cell provider and convinced them he was me. He took my number and had a field day on my crypto accounts. Unfortunately for him, I dont keep most of my crypto on CEX. I had some ONE on binance and they converted it to BTC but I shut him down before he could withdraw. That same thief tried again by guessing my main email password but he had no success. Needless to say my security is top tier now. Pretty annoying not being able to remember passwords but, it's worth it. Especially when ISPs across the board are pretty terrible with their 2FA because they want people to be able to easily get access to their account. So for example my phone cell has 2FA but then forces you to also have a sms option so they can text you a code to log in. Basically makes the 2FA useless….so, a wack long passwords for me it is.
Stop shitcoins and bring your btc in a hardware wallet, end of the fuckin story.

Got hacked from a hot wallet few weeks back. Scratched my head around how they got into it.
Best assumption was I connected Metamask to a site and gave them permission for accessing my wallet. All my keys are locked and encrypted.
I just recently updated to Win 11 and installed MM with no log out timer enabled. Networks stay connected until you close it.
Everyone should go to MM settings and set timer for 15 mins inactivity before it logs out. Also check connected sites per wallet and chain and disconnect once you have finished with them.
Cursed the sod for a day until I calmed myself down and bought a Ledger S+. Everything will be going through that from now on.
