Paying farmers not to farm is not a "new thing." We had 80 acres back in the 1960's and the government paid my dad to "Not farm" part of the land. It was called a "Soil Bank" back then. Not sure when they started doing this, but it's been around for over 50 years that I know of.

tumble weeds are very high in salt, minerals. while living off grid in SW, I collected, boiled, strained, and dehydrated the salt. or put a few twigs in soup, stews. cook salt out and remove twigs. you can learn a lot living with native americans.
I think the shortage of salt. I don't know what kind but The Canning Season is going strong and it will till Winter if not longer.
The irony is the only isotope left in the water being discharged is tritium, and that would be eliminated by evaporation of the water. A better use of the tritium enriched water would be to feed ot to an electrolytic hydrogen/heavy water plant. Once it starts producing deuterium they could sell the tritium contaminated deuterium gas to people doing fusion experiments.

The "official death toll" from the 2016 Gatlinburg fire was set at 14. However, from anonymous friends involved with recovery of dead, it should have been well over 200. Many homeless and illegals died. The government silenced that info.
