How does a metal/commodity backed currency work under supply side inflation of non mental/commodity prices? Or what if oil prices fall but gold prices rise for example, oil economies don’t get an exchange rate mechanism to remain competitive. There’s a lot of holes in this new currency. And if you can just peg it to x units of currency to an oz of gold (for example), you can just increase the number of units of currency this pool of metals can buy. Which is the same as QE.
