Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, the European Union has radically reduced its imports of coal, oil and natural gas from Russia. In fact, the bloc’s stated goal is to eliminate all Russian fossil fuel imports by 2027. But there is one glaring exception to this trend: Liquefied Natural Gas – or LNG, which the EU has been importing in record volumes from Russia. If just Russia would have been a democracy and an EU member, with their resources and our knowledges, EU will easily dominate this world. Even USA would be let behind

Ukraine is still shipping Russian gas through its pipeline system to EU at the tune of 15 billion cubic meters per year and receiving $2Billion in transit fees from Russia. This helps Russia earn billions too and finance the war effort in Ukraine. EU is run by a bunch of dbumfkus.

Reducing the consumption of methane gas (by replacing it with wind, solar, heat pumps, reducing the heat loss of out heated buildings and modifying central heating systems to be more efficient), rather than increasing import capacity, will leave us with more stable prices (less effect from the world marked of gas and oil) from a more reliable supply from within Europe.
As a Dutchmen I am ashamed that we still buy lng from Russia 😢
