    Utter rubbish. The never was, is or could possibly ever be, a Ben Gurion canal. A 3 minute look at the Negev, Har HaNegev mountain range and the Eilat area (including the Ramon International Airport, the Israel-Jordan border terminal and the hotels' lagoons) on Google Maps makes it abundantly clear why not, with really no need for further explanation. Video reported for misinformation.

    If a Chinese ship can block this canal quickly then a new canal can then enable Israel to block it then the Israeli one can be a new controlled choke point

    Pros: 1. Israel and USA will have more control on trade route. 2. Economic benefit to Israel, USA and NATO allies.
    Cons: 1. Egypt will suffer economically 2. Relation between Israel and Egypt will sour. 3. Most important, Iran can block this route at any time with minimal effort. 4. Lots of investment required for this.
