Gas prices are falling in parts of the U.S., with drivers in 16 states now paying $3.00 or less per gallon. At the same time, U.S. oil production has returned to record levels, making up 80% of the 2023 global supply increase. NBC News’ Tom Costello has more on how falling gas prices may be affecting sales of electric vehicles.

Funny, gas prices high, interest in EVS go up. Gas prices drop, EV interest drops. It will continue to do that. But grocery prices will never go back down unless there is competition.

Get your facts straight….Higher taxes out west *(CA) is NOT the reason gas is $2 more. Taxes are like 15 cent more here than other states.

Of course gas prices are starting to go down. Another major election cycle is coming up fast. I wouldn't be surprised if we hit the $2 dollar mark in the next few months. That way the current administration can say gas was super low during my term. As soon as the election results are over for 2024 gas will climb back up to record highs. It's a game that both political parties play.
America should keep the oil produced in America in America. Federal government needs to own oil refineries also to produce gas, diesel and other fuels. Only way Federal government will have any control on fuel prices in America. Profits would go to general fund and/or debt reduction. Americans wouldn't be so controlled by other countries oil production and what price per barrel of oil is on world market. Not saying take control of oil refineries in America but add more own by Federal government.
Oils down cuz they’re draining the oil reserve. By the time the Iran war hits, they’ll have a reason to blame when it’s back to $4

The media’s anti-EV propaganda continues… 😂 I was worried about range until I bought one. I drove from Rhode Island to California in my Tesla Model Y with zero issues. It was easier than driving my 2007 Mustang GT on the same trip because my Tesla drove itself most of the way. Ohhh…but don’t tell Americans that EVs are better! You might lose out on those advertising dollars from the fossil fuel industry. 😂 U.S. news outlets are such a joke!

Its funny how they think $3.15 is a good deal. I remember back when i first got my license in the late 1990s and gas was .98 cents. My next vehicle will be electric! Not because I'm an environmentalist, but because I don't like wasting hundreds of dollars a month on gasoline. That is money I could use for anything else. Gas will probably never be below $2.50 again!

Yea, and it is still levied on global pricing. Here is the dirty secret about increasing US production – it will go to other countries at higher prices. Yes, our domestic price will come down, but not like it would if we serviced our needs at lower prices for our economic benefit. It’s all global and the companies in the US are NOT for lower prices.
