Sky News Business Editor Ross Greenwood says the government does not need to adjust petrol prices for Australians.
“The oil price is coming down anyway as it is so from that point of view petrol prices will come down,” Mr Greenwood told Sky News Australia host Chris Kenny.
“So long as the government can make certain there is enough competition between the oil companies.
“When you have got oil today in the sixties when it was at one stage up close to $90 … those prices are going to come down.
“The government doesn’t need to do it.”

I paid 1.77 a litre for 91 unleaded this morning. The price will have to drop by at least 77 cents for me to be grateful.
I call bs fuel coming down , second comment
Great comedy sitting in traffic watching the meltdowns of those in fosil fuel reliant vehicles when you own an EV..

If they cut barrels well….
The OPEC countries have already started to reduce their oil production to increase the cost of oil. That's how the market works 😊, there are no supply problems, but retailers are still charging what they won't 😮, the country is already in a recession due to an incompetent government, who wasted 18 months on a referendum trying to divide the nation,
Don't worry if the oil price comes down, Robbing Hood Jim will wack the fuel excise up to compensate and to please that little psychopath Bowen.
So why is some Adelaide fuel jumping up to 209.9, a massive hike from 159.9 today?
I wish smug chalmers would stop saying "better nick" it's so contrived and stupid
It makes good economic sense to write PAYE for Pay As You Earn, because it saves eleven(11) characters, Ross. Can you guess the rest?
Responsible economic management. If only spin Jim’s mob practiced what they constantly preached!!
Fuel is nothing. Hyper immigration is pushing housing prices to crazy levels.
And yet, property is set to surge even more!
Ask any buyers agent!
One of the best things governments can do, is become smaller.
Less regulation. Less government intervention.
Well, all I can say, is most Aussies seem to be doing well.
Aircraft Maintenance trades people not so much however.
Of course. . . Going into an election cycle. . . Globalists have to appease the Goldfish Masses.
Ah cool fuel below a dollar a litre again as it was before this pandemic
Note to EV haters:
When more people drive EVs, the demand for petrol goes down and the price at the pump goes down with it.
Next time you see the price of petrol drop a little at the pump, thank those EV drivers. They're actually helping you.
Awesome, so petrol costs will be cheaper this Christmas and not more expensive as per history?
