Why the hell can't ANY of the people who are questioned by the Senators,
regardless of the topic (eg. Supreme court Nominees for just ONE example)
answer the damn question with a yes or no. They always tap dance around
the question to run out the clock because they know the Senators only have
a very limited amount of time to question whoever it is they are trying to get
answers from. These Senators are never given adequate time, they should
set new rules giving them double the time they get, and that is still a very
short amount of time given they barely get much to begin with. I see this
over and over and over, they all do the same thing.

Permanently seems a bit extreme. But not committing to maintain sanctions while Putin is in power is also poor.
As a European I never again want our energy to be used to hold us hostage. Or to be used as a political weapon against us. So no more would I want us to shift now to be reliant on US supplies anymore than I would Russian. Hopefully there’ll be a time in the future when a proportion can come from east, a proportion from west, and a majority from within.
Finally. Just imagine if we’d listened to climate science in the 70s and 80s and been moving to sustainable energy sources for the last 40-50 years. Bit of a moot whatifism but it’s a thought I keep coming back to when think about the conflicts centred around oil and gas.

She stopped any possibility of a peaceful solution by force! She solved Germany’s energy crisis by removing Russia’s ability to sell them their natural gas. They should delay the discussion when Russian starts to repair the pipeline, which may never happen in their lifetime.
