Legendary rapper and entrepreneur, Snoop Dogg, recently got into the NFT and crypto game, releasing “A Journey with the Dogg” containing one-of-a-kind material from the Los Angeles legend.
With items such as “Snoop Dogge Coins” and a collection called the “Diamond Joint” that included an original track titled “NFT,” this is yet another celebrity trying to get in on the NFT hype after musicians such as Grimes and Aphex Twin.
When asked if NFTs are the future, Snoop Dogg responded: “Yes. I truly do. I always like to be on the cutting edge and my team stays ahead of the curve. We have been following the movement for a while so we were actually ahead of the pandemonium. When I saw that I could create original art, tell a story, and combine it with an original track I was all in.”
With countless artists jumping head first into the world of NFTs, it seems like it won’t be long before your favorite artist has a non-fungible token up for purchase.
Meanwhile, millions of people are looking to change their current credit cards rewards from airline miles and hotel rooms, to assets such as bitcoin and other alt-coins.
Will Reeves, CEO and co-founder of Fold, Inc., explained: “Users that have been using us for the past six months are averaging 8.5 percent back on all of their purchases, which is something that you can’t get anywhere else.”
He continued: “My vision is to prove out that bitcoin is a better, fundamentally more valuable reward than anything else on the market. Every single card program that wants to continue to be relevant will be offering bitcoin as an option for people to earn.”
Thomas Harrison, who is developing a credit card with cryptocurrency exchange Gemini, stated: “I could earn $25 cash back or I could earn $25 of bitcoin, which 10 years from now could actually pay for that original purchase I made.”
I think this sounds like a great credit cards rewards program, as the value of your rewards can be even greater if the price of bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies continue to rise.
Finally, the cryptocurrency market cap hit a record $2 trillion today, with bitcoin accounting for $1.1 trillion.
According to data and market trackers CoinGecko and Blockfolio: “The cryptocurrency market capitalization hit an all-time peak of $2 trillion on Monday.”
Reuters explained: “At midday, the market cap was at $2.02 trillion. Bitcoin was last up 1.4% at $59,025, with a market cap of $1.1 trillion.”
Blockfolio tweeted Monday morning “Cryptocurrencies are now worth $2 trillion,” which prompted responses such as “Cryptocurrencies will soon be worth $5 trillion.”
With such a high ceiling for bitcoin, Ether, and other major cryptocurrencies, I would not be surprised to see us hitting a $3 trillion market cap sometime soon.
