Günther OETTINGER, EU Commissioner for Energy, on Monday delivered a keynote speech on the role of European regions in the union’s Energy 2020 strategy.
Oettinger gave this speech at the European Regions Energy conference, organized by the Assembly of European Regions and GE at the Representation of the State of Baden-Wurttemberg in Brussels.
The Europe 2020 strategy states sustainable growth as one of its main goals. Investments in projects to extend the share of renewable energy sources, to reduce CO2 emissions and to increase energy efficiency will not only contribute to achieve the 20/20/20 goals but also represent an important growth potential for Europe.
