Form a climate club: United States, European Union and China

Protecting the climate is difficult notably because of free-riding: emissions abatement costs are largely national but the benefits from climate stability are global. At this event the speakers discuss whether the European Union, the United States and possibly China could overcome this free-riding problem by establishing a climate club, in which they commit to stronger domestic climate measures and agree on the coordinated introduction of carbon border adjustment measures.

This event follows the article “Form A Climate Club: United States, European Union and China”, by Guntram B. Wolff and Simone Tagliapietra originally published in Nature.
