Ukraine and Poland have slammed an announcement by the United States allowing the completion of a controversial Russian gas pipeline into Europe.
The Nord Stream 2 pipeline is a natural gas line from Russia to Germany, which will span over seven-hundred 60 miles under the Baltic Sea.
It will lie parallel to the original 2011 Nord Stream.
Germany and Russia see the 11 billion U.S. dollar pipeline as an economically effective deal that provides cheaper and cleaner energy.
But energy middleman nation Ukraine has opposed the pipeline, arguing it would give Russia too much power over European gas supplies.
Despite originally sharing concerns, Washington eventually approved the deal, noting that the pipeline is almost complete while also looking to rebuild ties with Germany,… damaged during the Trump administration.
