A little context – I am a 28 year old female who is an adult entertainment worker and I’ve never filed taxes. Thanks to the wonderful education system of America, I went into adulthood with no financial literacy and no clue how to files taxes or even write a check. I also have never had parental figures or guidance either. I was completely on my own just trying to survive.
When I was younger ( 18 to 22 ) I had no idea I even had to pay taxes because I didn’t have a “normal" job. Stupid, I know. When I got a little older I learned I had to pay taxes but I was very scared to because what I was doing wasn’t exactly legal so I just decided to stick my head in the sand.
Anyways, I want to file but I’m worried it will set something off and the tax guys will look into all of these past years and I will be hit with an extremely large tax bill that I will never be able to pay.
I need non judgmental tax advice! I’ve dug myself into a hole

You are expected to know your basic civil duties to include filing & paying taxes; as a doctor, as a cashier, as an adult actor or etc. Even a new refugee who barely speaks English and zero American education would file taxes. If this is your reason, penalties cannot be abated.
Once you file your taxes, you will be penalized for late filing. If you have reasonable cause, you can request abatement. But as soon as you know how much tax you owe, pay them to avoid additional interest. To abate, you need to file form 843 and atrach a note explaing your reason.
To be considered compliant, you need to file the last 6 years’ tax returns. You need to consult a professional ASAP.
