My wife and I recently started new jobs and of course part of that is filing our tax forms again. It’s been a while since we have had to do this and wanted to make sure I’m on the right track here.

Job 1: $110K paid semi monthly Job 2: $115K paid biweekly.

We marked MFJ on the W-4 and are using the worksheet at the end of the form to determine our withholding so we can fill out Step 2(b) and then input the extra withholding within 4(c). I assume that’s the best way to calculate since we make relatively the same amount of money? Since our living expenses are pretty minimal we are just splitting the extra withholding based on our pay schedule so one of us isn’t taking on the full burden of the extra $1000+ per month withholding.

I read other posts about people putting single on their W-4 despite being married and doing things differently than this so it made me question what I was doing.

Any and all answers are appreciated

Could someone help me confirm I’m filling out my W-4 correctly please?

If I were in your situation I would put single on both w4 forms.

The reason I prefer this method is it splits the withholding between the two jobs, puts you in an okay position of for some reason you decide to file separately (since you both have withholding), it scales with income changes and does not need to be updated with every income changes like the other method.
