NYC- Looking to gain hands-on tax experience

Hey everyone! 👋 I’m based in New York City and currently working full-time in HR/talent, but I’m in the process of transitioning my career fully into tax.

I recently passed EA Part 1 and will be taking Parts 2 and 3 before the end of the year (or definitely before tax season). I’m also a Master’s in Taxation student, and I’m looking to get hands-on experience with individual and small business returns, anything that helps me truly learn the craft from the ground up.

I actually received an offer from H&R Block for this upcoming season, but I’d really love to connect with a small CPA firm in the NYC area that’s open on weekends (i can do weekday evenings too) and might be willing to let me shadow or help out (unpaid) during tax season. My goal isn’t compensation, it’s mentorship and exposure.

I’m eager to learn how things really work in practice: corporate returns, individual filings, and everything in between. If anyone knows a practitioner or small firm open to mentoring or letting someone assist a few hours a week, I’d love to connect.
