Hey everyone,

Last year my wife and I filed jointly for the first time. One thing I think it would be important to note is that my wife initially filed single, then we submitted an amended return as married filing jointly.

Our CPA says everything was submitted and we had proof of the amended return. When I check the IRS “Where’s My Refund?” Site the status bar shows Return Received, but it is not moving to the next status – Refund Approved.

Whenever I call, I get an automated line telling me the same information and no other options to get an answer.

I have filed through this CPA my entire life and this is the first time I have encountered this. How can I get more information from the IRS regarding this refund?

If this refund stays in this state until next year, will it affect our next filing?

    Any info is greatly appreciated!

Have yet to receive 2024 tax return, IRS resources are not helpful.

    1. No, it won’t affect filing your 2025 tax return.

Amended returns do take a long time, I’ve known it to take over a year.

You could try calling your congressman’s constituent support office. They can probably help, and at least they should know that underfunding the IRS affects their constituents.
