I'm in a position this year to harvest about $20k in capital gains, owing to an AGI low enough to qualify for 0% capital gains.

I just want to make sure I understand correctly that the only thing I *can't* do with the gains is to re-buy the same securities I sold. Is that the only restriction? Thanks

    1. are you harvesting gains or losses?

If losses, make sure you have not purchased in the previous 30 days – including dividend reinvestments

    2. There’s no issue with re-buying after taking gains. The wash sale rules only apply to losses.

There is nothing preventing you from rebuying the exact same securities. Wash sale rules apply only to losses, not gains.

Yes, it’s definitely gain harvesting and not loss harvesting. Thank you all for your help.
