Hi, I received the 1400$ last December in 2024 like many others. I confirmed with IRS at the time I received the refund and they stated that I do not need to return it.
I shifted from the east coast to the west coast in between and had enabled mail forwarding as well but there was a delay of a month for mail forwarding to take place and I’m guessing somewhere around that time they sent me a mail stating I need to return the amount credited to my old address that I didn’t have access to.
I missed this mail and did not receive any further correspondence neither could see any electronic notice posted on my online IRS account. On Dec 1st I received a CP504 Notice of intent to levy (seize) property if the payment was not made within 30 days. I was out of the country visiting my family during this time and only saw it on Dec 22nd and immediately made the payment online and it currently shows as “processing” online on my IRS account.

Although I made the payment within the said 30 day window I’m worried this shouldn’t escalate further. How can I ensure the IRS doesn’t actually file a levy?
Has anyone else here been in this situation?

Appreciate any help or clarifications here thanks!
