We had a child recently 2025, I was wondering if I can claim my child with low income earned ? . I do live with my bf he’s the head of household so he pay mostly for the house. Does that mean he has to claim him ? Will I able to claim him if he doesn’t claim ?

If you all lived together, then either you or your bf can claim the child as long as you two are the biological parents.
If you had less than $5,200 in income and your bf paid more than half of your support for the year, you may be his dependent if you lived together all year. If you can be claimed as a dependent you are not eligible to claim a dependent yourself.
If you claim the child then your bf cannot use Head of Household filing status unless he has another qualifying person.
I assume you and your boyfriend are the child’s parents? In that case, the two of you may choose who claims the child. You can try doing it both ways and see who benefits more.
* It sounds like he has paid more than half the cost of keeping up a home. Then only he can use head of household filing status, and only if he claims the child. Your filing status is single, whether or not you claim the child.
* There’s a “sweet spot” for the earned income credit. Having either too little or too much income can reduce the credit. Whichever one of you is closer will benefit more.
* Having too little income can also reduce your allowable child tax credit. Most people aren’t in the position where having too much income is a problem.
Edit: Also, as another commenter mentioned, you can’t claim dependents at all if your boyfriend can claim you yourself as a dependent.
If he is considered the head of household and pays most of the expenses, usually he should claim the child. But you can check IRS rules for low-income situations.
Try plugging it in for both of you guys, but likely due to his higher income/head of household, he will LIKELY be the better choice. Try it for you as well when you file though.
