i already filed my husbands tax return as MFS but i realized that we could get more money back from my 1098-T. i have not submitted my tax return yet because i am still waiting for one of my w2s to come in the mail. do i need to file mine when it comes in and then amend my husbands? i’m really lost on how to go about it

No.
You just amend your spouse’s return to change the filing status and to add your income.
