The last couple years, there’s been an issue every year getting my direct deposit, despite all my bank info being correct and they ended up sending a check, which delayed getting my return. So this year I asked my tax preparer to just have it mailed straightaway. When I logged into the IRS site, it said “ActionRequired” and I’m being asked to choose how to get my refund.
The only option seems to be direct deposit. Anyone else experience this? Not sure if I should just give them my bank info again or not. According to the IRS site, getting a check mailed seems to be specifically for people who don’t have a bank account.

The IRS doesn’t want to send checked. If you filed with no direct deposit they are sending a letter to have you enter in direct deposit. If you ignore this they will send a check but don’t expect it anytime soon.
They’re phasing out paper checks and requiring direct deposit now.
New mandate.

They are trying to phase out paper refunds.
They are mailing CP53E notices. https://www.irs.gov/individuals/understanding-your-cp53e-notice
> A recent Executive Order 14247 led to changes in the direct deposit options you now have available. The new direct deposit change will allow individual taxpayers to provide us with a new or updated bank account to receive their tax refund via direct deposit if certain conditions are met.
