Hello my husband was getting paid under the table but didn't know it. His boss told him he would have to file a 1099 independent contractor form. Keep in mind besides from TurboTax we really know nothing about filing our taxes we just follow the prompts and submit the information from a w-2. However this was not a regular company it was a landscaping company and we just thought things would be different as from what his boss told us. Well all of a sudden they decided to leave and go back to their hometown. Now tax season is here and we asked for that 1099 form however now they don't want to give it to us and they are telling my husband that they have to tell the IRS that some of the money that they made went to my husband. I know it doesn't make any sense to me either. I can actually copy and paste the actual text message I received from them it's very strange and I don't understand it. My question well I guess there's a few questions I or my husband will not lie to the IRS we do have proof of payment from them via zelle and cash app and even PayPal some of the times there was cash but most of the times he was paid through cash app. How do we go about this to file our taxes we have five children and we depend on our refund check every year we do qualify for the earned income tax and the other major tax break. I just want to report his earnings to the IRS and even if we don't get a refund check I don't care I will not lie to them it will only bring bad news and I think that's what his boss wants us to do. Maybe not lie but maybe just not mention that he worked for them and that's not going to happen either. He does not work for them anymore like I said so I told my husband to go to h&r block with all of his payment receipts and sit down with them and try to figure something out but I was also wondering if it's something that I can do via TurboTax if I have all of his payments handy maybe it would be easier to do it that way is there a certain form I need? Sorry this is so long and confusing. Thank you everybody.
