my CPA did not file form 8606 and I read this can be filed separately without an amendment.

what i did for backdoor (all in January 2026):

    1. put 7k into traditional IRA from my own after tax money, designated it as 2025 fund

    2. rolled the 7k into roth IRA immediately

    3. put 7.5k into traditional IRA for 2026

    4. rolled that into roth IRA immediately

I believe #1 must be included in the 2025 refund, and #2-4 in the 2026 return I file next year.

first, did I get this right?

second, am I also right that I can just send in form 8606 separately? how do I know for sure the IRS receives it?

Please help with Form 8606, my CPA didn't file it.

You don’t have until April 15 to do the conversion for the prior year, the Roth conversion has to be done by December 31.

Soooo, no you did not do this right
