Active duty using MilTax (H&R Block via Military OneSource). It’s handled Schedule C income fine for me in past years.

This year I’m stuck because of a K-1 from Brookfield Infrastructure Partners (BIP). I only held a small position through Robinhood and sold it on Jan 5, 2024.

    K-1 details are minimal:

    • \~$8 dividends (Box 6a)

    • $1 deduction (Box 13)

    • Everything else basically $0

MilTax now says my return is too complex and won’t let me continue.

    Return also includes:

    • 2 Schedule C’s (me + spouse)

    • UTMA dividend income for kids

This K-1 is the only issue.

    Questions:

    • Is there any workaround with MilTax, or is this a hard stop?

    • Worth switching to FreeTaxUSA or TurboTax just for this?

    • Practically speaking, how big of a deal is reporting such a small K-1?

Didn’t realize BIP would generate a K-1—lesson learned.

MilTax won’t let me file because of an $8 K-1… worth switching software?
