One year I had around 10 jobs and I just couldnt keep track of where the w2s were from and major things going on in my life so I didnt do it. I tried the year after, but couldnt complete them without the previous years forms completed.

so obviously I really want to get them done and not screwed up, but I honestly have no idea where I worked for some of those w2s. I dont have them all, and I was changing jobs so fast I couldnt keep track.

wtf am I supposed to do here? yea I know this is ridiculous

Haven't filled taxes at all in like 4 years..

The IRS transcript tool is your best friend right now. Go to [IRS.gov](http://IRS.gov) and request your wage and income transcripts for each missing year. They pull directly from what employers reported, so you don’t need to track down old W2s yourself. It won’t have literally everything but it covers the big stuff. I had a gap year and this is exactly how I reconstructed it without losing my mind.

Once you have the transcripts, a tax pro who specializes in back taxes is worth the money here. Four years isn’t catastrophic and the IRS has payment plans. But get those transcripts first because that’s what’s actually blocking you.

The easiest way to obtain everything is to get your unmasked wage and income tax transcripts for the year that you are trying to file, itll have everything from the W2 that you need to file. You can go to the irs site and make an account to try and get them online.

Find a good tax professional like a CPA or EA who can pull IRS transcripts and prepare the tax returns for you.

If your income is low enough, you could see about working with a VITA office. When I used to be a VITA preparer I once had to do 3 years back taxes for someone. Like someone else said, pulling your IRS transcripts will help (though taking down as many of your documents as possible will be the best).

Hear me out…if in reality he is owed money by the IRS instead of the other way around does he need to be concerned? I mean definitely file this year and going forward but hypothetically IRS isn’t going to hound u to file back taxes if they owe you r they?
