F33. I'm not going to make excuses as to why I'm this far behind, I simply was not in a good place and didn't take care of things. But I'm better now and trying to get my life back together, and this is a massive roadblock for me.

I know I'm going to owe a lot of money and there's no getting around that. I don't make very much, and most of my income is from 1099s with some W2 work as well, between 20k-30k total income each year.

I've started the process for every year going back to 2021 and even printed some of them and bought the stamps, but I'm too scared to actually pull the trigger and mail in my returns because I have no Idea what I'm doing or how any of this works, and I don't have anyone who can help me.

I have most of my documents but missing maybe one W2. I've got my IRS transcripts but many EIN numbers etc. are partially redacted.

I'm simply lost and feeling in over my head and I don't want to screw this up. I don't want to file wrong and get audited but I have no idea what I'm doing. Can someone please tell me if my fear is rational? What to expect? How to find the right professional to help sort this for me at a reasonable price? Or how to do it myself without feeling like I'm making a huge mistake?

My gut is telling me to stop trying to file myself and just hire someone. But it's also really late for that so I should probably just suck it up and send the returns? I also realize I might be blowing this out of proportion. Any advice at all would be so so appreciated.

    Edited for clarity/grammar.

5 years behind on taxes with multiple W2s and 1099s to file. Trying to finally clean up my mess, quite scared and trying to figure this out on my own. Need advice.

Similar spot. I ended up setting a drop off appointment at my closest IRS office. You can search online and find the one closest to you. It gave me a goal to get them done, and psychologically it felt good to hand them in in person and know they were DONE. I paid the amount owed for that year, and will probably be getting follow up letters on the penalties but at least I got them submitted. Understand if it’s not for you, but thought I would mention since it worked for me. Good luck.
