I moved to Texas to move back in with my parents in January of 2021 due to financial issues I was having at the time but was dumb and didn’t change my address with my employer until I think 2023 and had a balance of I think around $700 that I owed. I only recently got back on my feet and out of all the credit card debt that I owed and just now remembered this money I owe to the state. I haven’t got any notices or collection attempts made against me and I’m curious how to go about this. Is there some kind of statute of limitations on collections for the state tax? I don’t plan on moving back to AZ but also don’t want to get summoned by the courts over there for this debt, what is the best course of action at this point? I’m sure that balance has increased significantly due to penalties for not paying but if they haven’t come after me so far is it fair to assume they won’t take action in the future? Should I just call and check on the balance and try and set up some kind of payment plan or will the debt just be written off in the future if they don’t hear from me? I know I was dumb and messed up waiting this long to take action, just with everything I had been paying off I had forgotten about this until now.

Edit: I’ve been working remote since 2020 which is why I forgot to change my address with my employer until 2023.

What happens if I have a balance with AZ for my income tax but live in a different state?
